Happiness Diaries Episode 34 - Lena (Sweden)

I think happiness for me is mainly about doing what I love and enjoy. For instance ever since I was a kid I loved singing, it made me happy - and it still does. It’s even scientifically proven that singing releases endorphins, the feel good chemicals, to the brain - so grab the mic and belt it out! :)

So for me its a lot about finding things that I enjoy and always lift my mood doing them such as singing, sports outside, diy projects, hanging out with friends, chocolate or travelling... And knowing that I’m in charge of my own happiness, that I don’t want it to be dependent on others and that I can do something about it, which includes also accepting that there are just some things that you can’t change and it is okay. Thus, I’m trying to be more content with what I got and appreciate the little things. Before my travels, especially during my studies, I was always overwhelmed, stressed and worried about everything.. Traveling by myself and taking it day by day helped me a lot to just relax, reflect and enjoy everything.

I’m still trying to figure things out and I think one‘s happiness is a constant work in progress. I also know that I’m very lucky to have a supportive family and great friends who are always there for me and are always up for a good laugh, a bottle of wine or a dance party in the kitchen!
